At the same time, this environment creates challenges for physicians who must maintain high quality assurance standards throughout the entire patient treatment process.

From the determination of appropriate treatment methods to the delivery of those treatments, physicians must be aware of the risk factors that can lead to unintended outcomes. Just as a patient must understand the risk factors of potential treatment options, so must the physician understand what situations can lead to potential litigation.
 

National Medical Professional has designed a program to service the medical professional liability insurance needs of the radiation oncologist. We also insure group practices, as well as oncology related specialties within group practices including medical oncology. Applicants must meet the underwriting standards of the Company in order to become members of NMP.

NMP offers medical professional liability insurance coverage with various limits of liability under a “claims-made” policy featuring an incident trigger. Under a claims-made policy, coverage is provided for those claims that are reported during the policy period that relate to professional services performed by the insured after the retroactive date stated in the policy.

Coverage can also be provided for a professional organization (e.g., a partnership or corporation) and employees, including physicists, dosimetrists, RTTs and PAs.
